Well hello! Yes, it has been many months since I’ve last posted to this here blog. That doesn’t mean I haven’t been posting, it just means ASID has not been my priority. I apologize to you for that! Since I don’t want you to think I’ve been neglecting life or the things most important to me, I’ve decided that I’ll be reposting or putting up links here to all the other blog posts that I’m responsible for on these here Interwebs.

To give you an idea of my blogging schedule, here are my responsibilities:

Every other Thursday, I post either a Gift Guide or a Creative Challenge on Handmade Philly’s blog

Every other Thursday, I post an interview on Philly Modern Quilt Guild’s blog

Whenever I can muster the time and energy (possibly every week during the summer months), I’ll be posting many different topics on the Oakmont Farmers Market blog

In my extra time, I post to the Friends of the Haverford Township Free Library blog

Obviously not all of my posts will interest you – unless your a quilter/crafter/artisan living in the HT area who frequents the library and loves locally grown products, in which case call me because we might be twins separated at birth – but I hope that some of them will be interesting to you. And I always try to make the eye candy worthy of a visit to the blog I’m posting on

So branch out! Check out my interests and see if maybe they interest you too!

My biggest kick recently has been altering and refashioning clothing to fit me better. I don’t know about you, but I tend to accumulate an overflowing closet full of clothing of which I only pull out a few things religiously. This occurs mainly because I’m not the exact size and shape of the clothing coming off the shelves these days (who is??). So I pick things up thinking, “Yeah, this looks ok” and conveniently fold it up and stow it away, never to be seen again. My fix for this mess? Take it to my workshop and make it fit!!

This can mean a ton of different things – from the easiest involving nothing but tape to the difficult requiring lots of tools. Depending on the required time and my energy level, I’ll rip out a zipper and reinstall at a better location. If time and energy are low? Well then, it’s time to cut off the top and make it a draw string.

Getting over my fear of ruining my clothing was probably the biggest step. But is it worse to cut away too much and have to completely repurpose or to let it rot in its original condition in the back of my closet? I like to opt for the former. And the grand result of all my reconfiguring and altering is a wonderful wardrobe where I can pull anything off the shelf and know it’ll fit.

In need of the same thing? Feel free to contact me for my alterations price list. Or if you’d rather learn to fix it all yourself, I’d love to teach you! Contact me to set up a sew date at your place or mine.

Yes, it has been over a month since I’ve posted here! Time flies when you’re having fun I guess…

Needless to say I’ve been busy – just not here on my own site. Every week from Aug through this week I’ve been posting shop interviews on the Philly Modern Quilt Guild blog. And every other Thursday, I post either a gift guide or a creative challenge on the Handmade Philly blog. And somewhere in between those two projects, I’ve been working with another person to set up and start blogging on the new Friends of the Haverford Township Free Library site.

And did I mention that I was the quoit queen? Really, that’s just because the winning team was all male, but I’ll take what I can get!

I know some bloggers repost articles on other websites they run, but I just don’t think that’s very fun. Then again, in my case anyway, it’s either reposting articles or an entire month with no posts! Which is better?

Now that we’re solidly into my favorite month out of all twelve, I’m hoping to do a bit more posting here where I call home – ASID. For October, my goal is to post at least once a week here and possibly throw a link up to a good post elsewhere that I’ve authored. What are your goals?

I write a monthly gift guide for Handmade Philly and thought you might be interested in it too! Hope you find something good!

Oh my goodness, it’s almost father’s day! Don’t worry though, you still have a week and a half to pick out and order up the perfect gift. My dad is a traditional manly man. He works with his hands all day and I just can’t use a tie as a back up gift for him. Good news, I have a whole community of crafters to rely on – thanks Handmade Philly!! Hopefully you can find something suitable for your dad too, no matter what he enjoys. Click on the photos for more info!

I don’t know about your dad, but mine always needs a notebook to keep track of things (mainly car maintenance – thanks dad!!!) Pick up a small journal or notepad from readwritebooks which Dad can easily slip into his pocket or keep in his glovebox.

Does Dad’s space need a little brightening? Choose any of the sweet, bright, manly prints available from Pragyak.

This might be the coolest thing ever. Give Dad a way to see you every day with this awesome snapshot pin from Amy Blasco Jewelry. Dad can swap out the pics as you change your hairstyle and he can use this pin as a (large) tie tack or attached to his laptop case.

We all know how much Dad appreciates his afternoon beverage, so show him your love with a can cozy available from Grey Overcast Creations.

If Dad spends lots of time in the office, I’m sure his coffee routine could use a change of pace. Mix it up a bit by gifting him this lovely new mug from Bohner Designs.

Something else to brighten up Dad’s workspace – a terrarium! Pick up this small terrarium in person in Philadelphia from Felt & Kept (no shipping available!).

I don’t know about your Dad, but mine eats on the run every single working day. Set him up with this flatware set so he always has some utensils handy. It also comes with a cloth napkin and sandwich bags!

Clean up Dad’s act with this lovely soap dish holder from Light Mosaics. It’s gorgeous for catching light at the kitchen sink or in Dad’s bathroom counter.

These custom felties from Sqrl & Bee Studio are just too cute to pass up! Pick up one that resembles Dad, or maybe one that resembles you to grace his workspace. Even better, get one to stand for all your siblings so Dad can always have his family nearby!

Hopefully you found something in this guide that your Dad will enjoy! Don’t forget about the tons of other items available from Handmade Philly artisans that weren’t included in this particular guide.

Happy Fathers’ Day!!

The weather was horrible (or great to you summer lovers) but we managed to keep our cool with some beverages, good convo and the nice breeze. It was great to sit around and make stuff while chatting up a storm. I should have paid closer attention to what I was doing as a few of my bowls turned out lopsided. But that’s the joy of handmade, right?

I’m Nicole and I’m super psyched to (finally) be here. I’ve been quilting and sewing for myself and others for about 8 years now. I set up my website in 2006 and haven’t changed it since. Recently I’ve been focusing a whole lot more on my business and I’ve been having a great time! I decided to start this here blog as an arm of the website (or all alone, if you’d like) and it will be all about my craftiness, the business, and the fun I’m having. I’m hoping this will turn into a great way for me to find new friends and share the fun (and headaches, of course) of fitting creativity into life.

Thanks for stopping by to visit – it means a lot to me! Leave a comment and I’ll try to return the favor.

See you soon!
